AS THE country continues to have much needed conversations about sexual assault, men are still preying on young girls, with the latest police crime bulletin revealing that a total four minors and one woman were raped over the weekend.<\/p>\n

Three girls were raped on Friday and another on Saturday in separate incidences across the country.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A woman, age 27, was also raped on Saturday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to the latest crime bulletin, reporting period 6 to 8 September, an 11-year-old girl was raped at an unknown time in a corridor in Rehoboth behind a church. The man who has since not been arrested allegedly grabbed her from behind, strangled and raped her.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The girl was on her way home from her aunt\u2019s house when the unidentified perpetrator attacked her. In Walvis Bay on the same day, a 14-year-old girl was raped by a suspect only identified as \u2018Lucky\u2019. The two reportedly met at a party that was held at his house, however, during the party he took her to his room and raped her whilst intoxicated.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe victim’s mother got worried and started looking for her. She was told by a relative where the victim was. The victim was found alone at the said ghetto. The suspect is still at large and the search is on to trace him,\u201d Police Spokesperson Deputy Commissioner Edwin Kanguatjivi said.<\/p>\n

Another rape case was reported at the Eenhana police station last Friday after a 21-year-old man reportedly raped a 15-year-old girl when he suck into her room when she was visiting his home.<\/p>\n

The man was arrested and is set to appear in court.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, a 13-year-old girl was raped at her homestead at Ongha village.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The alleged perpetrator, who is related to the girl\u2019s father,\u00a0 reportedly pulled her into the room and raped her.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The suspect is still at large and police investigations continue.<\/p>\n

\u00a0In an unrelated incident, a 27-year-old woman was also over the weekend raped at Arandis whilst reportedly under the influence of alcohol.<\/p>\n

The victim was drinking with the 24-years-old suspect at his place when he raped her.<\/p>\n

He has been arrested and is scheduled to appear in the Swakopmund Magistrate\u2019s court.<\/p>\n

Last month, the police sent a stern appeal to parents and the public at large to be vigilant when looking after minors as this will prevent their young children from becoming victims. This was after an upward trend of rape cases involving minor victims was detected.<\/p>\n

Between 11 and 18 July this year, 5 minor girls were raped, while four more girls were raped between 25 and 31 July.<\/p>\n

Last\u00a0 month between 5 and 11 August, a total 9 cases involving the rape of minors were reported. Police added that between 18 and 24 August, 8 more minors were reportedly raped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
