Photo: Contributed<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Maria David<br \/>SWAPO Party Secretary-General, Sophia Shaningwa, lashed out at members who are challenging 2017 party congress result in court, accusing them of causing the party to lose millions of dollars in legal costs.<br \/>Speaking at Oshakati during the official launch of the party election campaign for the Oshakati East constituency by-election on Saturday, Shaningwa said Swapo has so far lost about N$8 million in defending the specific case in court.<br \/>She condemned all those entertaining the idea of challenging the results of the congress in court, whilst accusing certain individuals of being against President Hage Geingob.<br \/>Shaningwa alleged that it is a group of Oshiwambo-speaking individuals refusing to accept Geingob as the president of the country, because he is not from the Aawambo tribes.<br \/>She demanded to know why Swapo congress results were never challenged in court during the reign of the Founding President Sam Nujoma and that of former President Hifikepunye Pohamba.<br \/>\u201cYou are not fair, I want you to go and drop your tribal-motivated court case forthwith. We will fight you and you will not get it right,\u201d Shaningwa added while lashing out and describing such court challenge as a coup d\u2019\u00e9tat.<br \/>She told those present that some of the individuals, who have filed a court case against Swapo, were also among the audience of Saturday meeting.<br \/>According to her, the money Swapo spent on the court case could have been better utilised in constructing party district offices or buying drought relief food for needy Namibians.<br \/>Mirjam Shituula, Selma Namboga, Nambata Angula and Seth Boois dragged Swapo to court arguing that the leadership of the party has ignored several irregularities committed prior the congress.
