Hockey teams suffer opening defeats

NAMIBIA’S Men and Women’s teams currently in South Africa, both suffered defeats in their opening matches at the start of a tricky qualifying road to 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The teams are taking part in a qualifying tournament underway in Stellenbosch, South Africa that also serves as qualification for the 2023 Commonwealth games
Despite putting up a great performance, the Men’s team suffered a 3 – 1 defeat against host nation while the women’s team lost out to Kenya by 1 – 0.
Namibia’s Women’s team that is currently ranked 40th in the World is expected to take on South Africa in their next game on Thursday, followed by Ghana on Sunday.
The Men’s team will take on Ghana later on in the tournament.
