FOUR people died on the spot when a GRN vehicle that transported finance deputy minister Natangwe Ithete to Ongwediva collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle Sunday evening.
According to police spokesperson Frieda Shikole, the driver of a GRN vehicle, Johannes Sakeus, had just dropped the deputy minister at Ongwediva and was driving back to Ondangwa when the accident occurred at Omaalala village on the main road between Ongwediva and Ondangwa at around 20:50.
She said that a white Volkswagen Polo (N 711 T) was overtaking when it crashed into the oncoming GRN vehicle.
The driver of the Polo, Ismael Filippus Nailonga (29) and his three passengers died on the spot.
The other three passengers were identified as the driver’s younger brother Sakaria Filippus Nailonga (27), Ismael Nanguti (40) and Shikongo Jafet (28).
They were all from the Amunganda village near Ondangwa.
The GRN driver was seriously injured and was taken to hospital where his condition was reported to be stable.
