THE Omutaku Combined School in the Ohangwena Region, which has been in desperate need of school furniture, will this Friday receive a welcome donation of chairs and tables from Omwaalu Fishing.
Informanté earlier this year reported that the learners were bringing their own chairs from home every day because of the acute shortage of vital school furniture.
Apart from lack of desks and chairs, the school also lacks proper ablution facilities. The existing facilities are falling apart and are deemed dangerous for use.
According to the school principal, Lucia Haulofu, some of the problems date as far back as 2016.
Since then learners are required to carry their own plastic chairs from home to school every day. Those without chairs have to find an alternative or simply sit on the floor.
Director of Education in the Region, Isaack Hamatwi said that they appreciate the Good Samaritans who came to the school’s rescue by donating the much needed chairs and tables.
“They are really meeting the government halfway, ensuring that teaching condition of the learners and teachers are improved,” said Hamatwi.
Hamatwi called on the friends of education to come on board in order to make a different the live of a Namibia child.
The company will donate 300 chairs and 300 tables valued N$138 000.
