The two other people that did not survive the accident were identified as the 20-year-old Gonzales Hoabeb and 30-year-old Ilanza Noleen Kongoro. Hoabeb was the driver of the Toyota Passo that crashed into heavy transport truck before smashing into a barrier next to the road.
According to the report the 32-year-old Rosalia Mwedihanga survived the accident. Mwedihanga was admitted to the Swakopmund State Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The actual cause of the accident is still being investigated but it is suspected that the driver of the small passenger vehicle lost control in the confined space between the roadside barrier and the oncoming truck after his tyres on the left side of his vehicle were damaged by the badly eroded edge and shoulder of the road.
