WITH the country gearing up to remember all fallen heroes and heroines of the Liberation Struggle, Mayor of Ongwediva Angelina Angula has called on Namibian to not forget the people who sacrificed everything for freedom.
Angula made the call during the official opening of the 20th Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair on Saturday.
The 2019’s national Heroes’ Day commemoration is expected to take place at Otjiwarongo’s Paresispark Sports Stadium in the Otjozondjupa Region.
Heroes’ Day is a national event that remembers the first liberation struggle battle that took place at the Omugulugwombashe in the Omusati Region on 26 August 1966, when the South African soldiers attacked a military base of the People Liberation Army of Namibia (PLAN) which was a military wing of the Swapo-Party.
Angula asked members of the public to join the rest of the country in celebrating all fallen heroes and heroines next week Monday.
