BREWED from only Sorghum, water, yeast and sugar, the famous traditional drink known as ‘Tombo’ is one of strongest traditional beverages used by traders to eke out a living in the rural areas of the country as well as the sprawling informal settlements around the major towns of Namibia. The non-refined alcoholic drink, has its origin in the rural areas of the country and since time immemorial been a source of income. The excessive consumption of the traditional beer however can hold danger to the drinker and often leads to social problems in communities and families. Regular drinkers of the brew often suffer from secondary complications brought on by alcoholism like psychological problems and mental disorders.
