THE vigilance of a police officer travelling in a taxi with other people led to the arrest of drug dealer in Outjo.
According to the official report about the arrest provided by the Public Relations Division of the Namibian Police, the drug dealer was spotted by the officer while they were on their way between Otjiwarongo and Khorixas.
“Whent the taxi reached Outjo the police officer ordered the driver to stop at the police station. When the driver brought the vehicle to standstill, the officer identified himself and searched the suspect.”
The 24-year-old suspect had 90 mandrax tablets in his possession. He was arrested on the spot and charged with possession and dealing in illicit drugs.
Ten more people from across Namibia were arrested for possession and dealing in illicit drugs over the past weekend.
A 21-year-old man was arrested in 8ste Laan in Otjomuise on Saturday after he was found with four parcels and 24 bankies of dagga in his possession
According to the crime bulletin the dagga found in the man’s possession is estimated to be worth N$2 480.
Three men were taken into custody during a special police operation in the Northern Industrial Area of Windhoek.
According to the incident report the men were found in possession of a total of 305 grams of dagga. The value of the dagga is estimated to be N$6 100.
The three men aged 36, 40 and 36 were charged with possession and dealing in illicit drugs.
The police in Khorixas arrested four men on Friday after they were found in possession of nine packets, also known as ballies and 18 sachets, or bankies, of dagga.
The four men, aged 18, 20, 31 and 45 also face possession and dealing in illicit drugs charges.
A fifth suspect, a 31-year-old man was arrested in Khorixas on the same day when he was found with three quarters of a mandrax tablet in his possession.
The case is separate from the first four suspects arrested on the same day and the suspect was charged with possession and dealing in dangerous drugs.
A 24-year-old man was arrested in John Meinert Street in Windhoek when members of the Namibian police busy with a special operation stopped and searched the suspect.
The man was charged with possession and dealing in illicit drugs when the officers found 55 grams of cannabis on his person. The dagga is estimated to be worth about N$1 100.
