THE famous Dunes Xtrail cycling event took place over the weekend where once again, the Goeieman brothers, Erich and ALbertinus took center stage and got away with top honors.
The 39-year-old Erich won the senior men’s 16 km event for the third time in a row, while his younger brother, 25-year-old Albertinus also won in the men’s 8km event for the third time in a row.
The competition saw more than 380 entrees with majority partaking in the 8km trail, and 16km trail that had a smaller but strong field.
Erich won the 16km event after Salomo David in the finish line in a time record of one hour and 48 seconds while David finished second, followed by Thomas Miller who took third place overall on one hour , four minutes and 37 seconds.
In the women’s category, Stephanie Roland won the women’s 16km event with a personal best record time of one hour, 21 minutes and one second while Eloise Ellis and Nadine Agnew both finished in second place in one hour, 26 minutes and 57 seconds.
Albertinus won the 8km elite male category in a time of 33 minutes48 seconds finishing ahead of Herman Kathima who finished at 34 minutes and 38 seconds, while Nesley Gawaseb came in third place at 36 minutes and seventh seconds.
The 2020 series will kick off with the K-H trial next year June followed by the Avis Xtrail slated for July.
