THE 17-year-old, Iyaloo Johannes, a girl from Onakazizi Village, was seriously injured by two young men who assaulted and robbed her of all her worldly possessions after luring her to an empty house by promising her a job and accommodation.
According to Oshana Regional Police Spokesperson, Inspector Thomas Aiyambo, the victim sustained serious injury to her head and neck while she suffers from chest pain and swollen eyes.
He said Namibian Police in the Oshana Region registered a case of robbery and assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm as well as a case of gender based violence, after she was severely assaulted and robbed.
“The victim was promised employment and she was taken to unoccupied house. She was physically assaulted and robbed of her cell phone and her bag of clothes,” stated Aiyambo.
“The victim was taken to Oshakati State Hospital for medical treatment at the intensive care unit and later on she was admitted in a general ward in a stable condition.”
Aiyambo noted that one of the suspects was identified by young people who witnessed part of the deception, while the second suspect is still unknown.
No arrest has been made yet and the investigation into the matter continues.
