Desperate hippos looking for water

MOST countries in the southern part of Africa are currently dealing with one of the worst droughts in decades which have had a devastating effect on humans and animals.
Two hippopotamuses that spent the last few months trapped in shrinking water pools in the Thamalakane River which runs past Maun in Botswana were filmed while they made a desperate run for another water source in Okavango Delta some distance away.
Like in Namibia hippopotamuses in Botswana are increasingly trapped in shrinking pools of water as rivers that normally runs all year round dry up because of a lack of rain.
The annual flooding of the Okavango Delta that normally arrives at Maun in the months of May and June did not happen this year leaving the Thamalakane River dry.
