THE school pride of learners and teachers at Delta Secondary School in Windhoek saw them this morning joining hands to clean up in under an hour the mess of Grade 12 learners who yesterday ran amok as part of the school tradition popularly known as “40 days celebrations.”
The evidence of this year’s 40 days celebration, a tradition which usually sees final year learners wrecking havoc within limitations a day before they are set to break for the final National Senior Secondary Certificate examinations, was captured on camera by some learners and posted on social media.
While the images of the devastation and vandalism were still circulating and being debated, teachers and the remaining learners (Grade 8 to 11) at Delta Secondary School were cleaning up to restore the school to its usual state.
Classes at the school proceeded as usual after the first period.
The behaviour was widely condemned on various social media platforms, with many pointing out that the 40 days celebrations this year had clearly crossed the line.
