Madagascar will be looking to keep the momentum of their undefeated status in the 2019 African Cup of Nations going when they take on the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the round of 16 knock-out stage of the tournament.
The Malagasies defied all odds during their campaign as debutants to the championship. The Indian Ocean nation shocked three-time AFCON champions Nigeria in a 2 – 0 win to finish at the top of Group B.
The Barea garnered seven points in the group stage, recording wins against Nigeria and fellow tournament first-timers Burundi. They held Guinea to a 2-2 draw in the opener.
A win for Madagascar at the Alexandria Stadium against the DRC will see them become the first debuting team to remain unbeaten in their first four games at the Africa Cup of Nations since Libya achieved the same feat in in 1982.
The DRC was the comeback side of the group phase, recovering from defeats by Uganda and hosts Egypt to trounce Zimbabwe and managing to squeeze through to the round of 16 knock-out stage.
Madagascar and the DRC last met in a 2017 Cup of Nations qualifier where the Leopards whon the macth with six goals to one.

The second match of the round of 16 knock-outs will be between Algeria and Guinea.
The Desert Foxes reached the knockout phase as group C winners and their hopes of clinching their second AFCON title are still alive.
Algeria was unstoppable in the group stage as they recorded victories over Senegal, Kenya and Tanzania.
Meanwhile, Guinea advanced to the round of 16 as one of the four best third-placed teams and the 1976 AFCON runners-up are looking to go all the way this year.
The National Elephants registered a defeat against Nigeria after drawing with Madagascar, and they ended their group B campaign with a win over Burundi.
The match is will kick off at 21:00.
