Collision claims one near Wilhelmstal

A Collision between a heavy truck transporting fuel and a double cab bakkie claimed the life of, the 48-year-old Alricko Lawrence Davids, a South African national who resided in Walvis Bay.
According to the official police report provided by the Erongo Regional Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Erastus Iikuyu, the crash occurred on Thursday at about 22:00 on the road between Karibib and Okahandja near Wilhelmstal.
“It is alleged that the Nissan Navara, driven by Davids collided with a fuel tanker truck from Botswana. Davids, who was on his way to Okahandja, passed away on the scene of the accident while another occupant of the light pick-up trick, the 38-year-old Leon April also a South African national, sustained serious injuries.”
According to the report April was transported by ambulance to the Okahandja State hospital for further medical care and treatment.
The truck driver, a 34-year-old Botswana national, did not sustain any injuries.
The actual cause of the accident is still under investigation.
