Business slow at Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair

Maria David

AS trading hours drew to a close on Tuesday evening, businesses at the area reserved for Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs), popularly known as ‘Katutura’, at the Ongwediva Trade Fair (OATF) struggled to get customers.
Some of the exhibitors claimed that due to the economic downturn that the country is experiencing, their businesses are struggling.
Many of the exhibitors selling beverages and food told Informanté that the little money money they make is used to buy more stock to ensure that their stalls are always fully stocked.

There are however, fears that the money they invested will not be recovered through sales.
“I urge the organisers to remove gate fees for visitors and increase the frequency of adverts for a lot of people to know and come to this place,” said one exhibitor.
Another exhibitor was, however, optimistic that the situation would improve as the fair keeps gaining momentum by the day.
This 20th annual trade fair will is taking place under the theme ‘Fostering Economic Growth through Innovation.’
