Eckart Mueller, the director of the Namibia Institute of Mining and Technology and Heimo Hellwig, the deputy director of the institution were murdered in execution style in front of the entrance to the main office building at Arandis earlier this morning.
The brutal murder was confirmed by various employees of NIMT as well as Deputy Commissioner Erastus Iikuyu, the Crime Investigations Coordinator if the Namibian Police in the Erongo Region.
Employees, students and residents of Arandis gathered in front of the premises of NIMT while police cordoned off the scene of the murder.
As far as can be established Mueller and Hellwig arrived early to work where their assailant waited for them.
The assailant allegedly approached them directly and fired at least seven shots at close range, killing the victims almost instantly.
The motive for the brutal execution style murder is still unclear at this stage.
