A MAN residing at the Sikali village in the Kavango West region savagely took the life of his wife after he allegedly found her with another man in their hut.
According to the Namibian Police crime report, the murder, read with the domestic violence act, happened on Friday, 16 August, at around 01h30 at Sikali village.
It is alleged that the suspect found his wife with an unknown man in the house.
This angered the suspects and allegedly saw the man chopped his wife with a traditional axe in the head, resulting in her instant death.
The deceased has been identified as 23-year-old Kalenga Naimi Ngambo. Her next of kin have been informed. The suspect, identified as a 33-years-old Angolan national, fled the scene and has not yet been arrested. Police investigations continue.
In anotherc case of gender-based violence, on Saturday 17 August, at about 22:00 at Etambo village, Epembe Constituency in Ohangwena Region, it is alleged that a man stabbed his wife about seven times with a knife. The victim was transported to Onandjokwe hospital and is reportedly in a critical condition.
It is not yet clear what prompted the stabbing.
After the incident, the suspect was found hanging on a tree with a rope around his neck. The deceased has been identified as Immanuel Nehale, a Namibian male adult. His next of kin have been informed.
A case of murder was opened in Keetmanshoop after a fight occurred in cell one amongst inmates allegedly over a comb.
The incident happened on Sunday, 18 August, at about 10:00 at the Keetmanshoop Police holding cells.
The members on duty went to the cells after hearing noise and found one inmate injured.
He was immediately taken to the hospital but was pronounced dead by a doctor.
The deceased has been identified as Ernesto Jahrs, 21. Jahrs was detained for assault through threatening read with the domestic violence act. His next of kin have been informed.
