The 66-year-old Elizabeth Maria Maas was rushed to a Walvis Bay hospital after she shot herself twice in the left arm during an attempt to kill herself.
According to Deputy Commissioner Erastus Iikuyu, Erongo Regional Crime Investigations Coordinator, the incident occurred on Sunday afternoon at about 13:30 Maass’s residence in the Hermes neighbourhood of Walvis Bay.
“It is alleged that the woman shot herself twice in the left arm with a 7, 65 millimetre pistol which belongs to her husband. The fire arm was confiscated later.”
He said the suicide attempt followed an argument with her husband earlier on Sunday.
Maass allegedly locked herself in her bedroom after which at least four shots rang out. After members of her family gained entrance to the room she was found seriously wounded on her bed.
Deputy Commissioner Iikuyu said she was admitted to the Welwitchia hospital in a serious but stable condition.
