AFTER undergoing emergency surgery at the Roman Catholic Hospital the 29-year-old Anittha Gertze, who was shot by her husband Franz Gertze during the early hours of Saturday morning, is said to be on the road to recovery.
The shocking news of Gertze’s cold blooded attempt to murder his wife by shooting her several times soon had people wondering if Anittha survived.
Chief Inspector Kauna Shikwambi from the Namibian Police’s Public Relations Division in Windhoek said that the victim did indeed survive the attempt on her life.
A spokesperson for the family said that Anittha is out of surgery and out of danger and is currently in a stable condition in hospital.
Gordon Schmidt requested the public to refrain from circulating false information about Anittha dying. He also asked people to allow the immediate family the space comfort the shooting victim in peace.
“Keep us in your prayers as this is not easy for all.”
Gertze was arrested and charged with attempted murder and the negligent use of a firearm after police found a suicide note in the couple’s house while investigating his claims that he shot at people who he alleged broke into his house.
In the mean time Chief Inspector Shikwambi said that Franz Gertze is most likely to make his first appearance in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
