THE environment ministry is investigating a case of poisoning after at least five animal species were found dead on a farm in the Omaruru area.
It is believed that an unknown person entered the farm and poisoned the water point. Although the exact number of dead animals could not be confirmed, kudus, vultures, zebras and jackals were found dead over the past weekend in the Erongo region.
Environment Ministry Spokesperson Romeo Muyunda confirmed the incident, adding that a case of illegal killing of wildlife was opened.
“A serious case of illegal poisoning was opened. The farm owner reported the matter to us on Friday. Some animals were found on Thursday and the rest on Sunday. We have since tested the water point and it tested positive for deadly poison,” Muyunda said.
