AN Angolan man who was transporting illicit drugs was arrested at police roadblock after they found 17 parcels of dagga with an estimated value of N$78 000 in his possession.
According to Inspector Maureen Mbeha, spokesperson of the Namibian Police in the Otjozondjupa Region, the suspect was travelling in a taxi from Otjiwarongo to Outjo at the time of his arrest on Thursday night.
“The taxi was and searched at the roadblock about four kilometres outside of Outjo. Officers manning the roadblock found 17 parcels of cannabis with an estimated street value of N$78 000 stashed in the vehicle and the 39-year-old suspect was arrested,” said Mbeha,
She said the Angolan national will appear in the Outjo Magistrate’s Court on Monday on charges of possession and dealing in illicit drugs.
