The Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture released its teaching vacancy bulletin for the year 2020 which will open a total of 1746 teaching posts to the public.
Spokesperson at the education ministry, Absalom Absalom stated that of the 1746 teaching posts advertised for 2020, 35 posts would be for principal positions, 121 posts for Heads of Departments and 1590 posts for teachers.
He added that the teaching posts have been identified as critical, hence the need to be filled in order for the teaching and learning process not to be compromised.
Absalom further explained that the posts for school principals and head of department which are currently vacant but have already been advertised are not included in bulletin.
He stressed that it should be noted that the issue of overstaffing and understaffing, currently studying and employed teachers with a five year contract has been considered and addressed before the submission of new vacancies.
The closing date for teaching positions is 11 October 2019, while posts for principals and heads of departments will close on 25 October 2019.
