Peter Shimweefeleni Kauluma – one of the longest serving lieutenants and a personal friend of the Ondonga King Immanuel Kauluma Elifas – has died.
Elderly Kauluma, who was of poor health and was in and out of hospital for the past few years, reportedly died in a Windhoek hospital this morning.
He was the chairperson of the Ondonga Traditional Authority until 2017 when he and three other senior traditional councillors – Vilho Kamanya, Joseph Asino and John Walenga – were dismissed by King Elifas, a dismissal they disputed in the High Court. The matter is still pending.
Walenga confirmed the sad news said Kamanya, who is the spokesperson of the group of the dismissed traditional leaders who currently runs a parallel Ondonga tribal office at Onethindi in the Oniipa town, Oshikoto region will issue an official statement at a later stage.
