PRESIDENT Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has congratulated Namibia’s national netball team, the Desert Jewels, on qualifying for the 2027 Netball World Cup in Sydney, Australia.
Nandi-Ndaitwah described the qualification as a proud moment for Namibia and a reward for the team’s hard work, discipline and determination throughout the qualifying campaign.
She congratulated the players, coaches, technical team and everyone who supported the team on its journey back to the international stage.
“Every training session, every sacrifice and every moment of perseverance has contributed to bringing Namibia back onto the world stage,” she said.
Nandi-Ndaitwah said the achievement also sends an important message to young girls across Namibia about what can be achieved through opportunity, commitment and belief.
“When they see the Desert Jewels competing among the best, they see what is possible,” she said.
“They see that with opportunity, commitment and belief, a Namibian girl can rise from anywhere in our country and take her place on the world stage.”
She urged the team to approach the 2027 World Cup with confidence, assuring the players that the nation would support them.
“Go forward with confidence, knowing that an entire nation stands proudly behind you,” Nandi-Ndaitwah said.
“Congratulations, Desert Jewels. You have made Namibia proud. Continue to shine and carry our flag with pride.”
