A police manhunt is continuing in the Oshana, Omusati and Ohangwena regions following an armed robbery in Oshakati on Thursday morning.
According to the police, a commercial bank client who intended to deposit N$57,000 was robbed of the cash immediately after disembarking from the vehicle in the parking area of Bank Windhoek.
The five unknown suspects, who were armed with pistols, also managed to hijack a blue Volkswagen Golf and used it as their getaway vehicle.
The Golf was later found abandoned near Mwadina gwaNembenge Secondary School, about a kilometre from the scene of the crime.
People in the vicinity of the school allegedly informed the police that the suspects were picked up by a white Toyota Camry without number plates, which sped off in the direction of Omungwelume, Ohangwena Region.
According to a police officer involved in the search operation, the suspects have not yet been found, but the manhunt continues, covering all three regions, with a special focus on the Namibia-Angola border area.
