The regional congresses of the Namibia Agricultural Union (NAU) and the Livestock Producers’ Organisation (LPO), which were scheduled for early October, have been postponed until further notice.
“With the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in Namibia, the agricultural sector currently finds itself in a very challenging and uncertain situation. Consequently, a decision was made to postpone the NAU/LPO regional congresses,” the NAU explained.
The Union confirmed that the congresses, which were scheduled to take place from 5 to 9 October, have been postponed to allow the Union and farmers to focus their efforts on addressing the FMD situation.
“We will communicate the new dates for the congresses to everyone as soon as they have been determined. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience the postponement of the congresses may cause,” the NAU added.
