NAMIBIA’s Young Warriors secured their second consecutive victory in the TotalEnergies CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations COSAFA Qualifier, beating hosts Mozambique 1-0 on Sunday to move to six points in Group A.
Rashid Naobeb scored the decisive goal in the 18th minute at the ABB Stadium in Mozambique, giving Namibia a 1-0 lead at half-time.
The Young Warriors held on to claim all three points and record their first-ever victory over Mozambique at Under-20 level.
Onesmus Timotheus was named Man of the Match for his performance.
The result leaves Namibia with six points from two matches, having opened their campaign with a 1-0 victory over Mauritius on Friday.
Namibia’s next match is against Seychelles on Tuesday, 22 September, at 15:00.
The Namibia starting line-up consisted of Mcheni Kavendjii, Antonius Guiseb, Onesmus Timotheus, Shahid Naobeb, Tuundjakuje Kandingua, Mateus Ashitenda, captain Lukas Sakeus, Chris-Lee Vries, Willem Nguvali, Rashid Naobeb and Suveree Kauzuu.
The substitutes were Uetuesa Hangero, Nevio Huber, Ngifikefunue Kandume, Gerson Kangumbe, Leonard Nghidimbwa, Giovanni Tsandib, Robinho van Wyk, Promise Haitamba and Adriano Gawab.
