One suspect in custody, another at large after alleged rape of minors in northern Namibia

POLICE have reported two separate cases of alleged rape involving underage girls in the King Nehale and Omuntele areas, according to the weekend crime report. One suspect is in custody while the other remains at large as investigations continue.

According to the Namibian Police weekend crime report, in the first incident, spanning August and September 2026 at Okandjeke village in the Nehale Lyampingana constituency, a 62-year-old Namibian male pensioner, who is the uncle of the victim, is alleged to have sexually assaulted a 14-year-old Namibian girl on multiple occasions. Police say the suspect is in custody and the investigation is ongoing.

In the second case, reported on Saturday in Ongali village in the Omuntele area, a 21-year-old Namibian male is alleged to have sexually assaulted a 13-year-old Namibian girl. No arrest has been made as the suspect is still at large, and police investigations continue.
