Rehoboth child murder accused denied bail

Rehoboth child murder accused denied bail

Staff Reporter

DICKSON Karomuini, a 33-year-old man accused of murdering his 11-year-old stepson, Gephardt Doëseb, appeared in the Rehoboth Magistrate’s Court and was kept in custody after his first appearance, with the State objecting to bail. Karomuini is charged with three counts, namely murder read with provisions of the Domestic Violence Act, defeating and/or obstructing the course of justice, and theft.

The State alleges that Karomuini, on 11 September 2026, killed Doëseb by stabbing him with a knife on the left side of the neck and also hitting him with a stone on the neck. The body of the boy was discovered by girls who had been herding goats in the district of Rehoboth near the Oanab Bridge.

Meanwhile, members of the Rehoboth community earlier on Thursday marched to the scene where Doëseb’s remains were discovered.

The community walked from Echo Service Station to the bridge where the boy’s body was found, in a show of solidarity following his death.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Doëseb’s death is continuing.
