POLICE have arrested a man believed to be the stepfather of 11-year-old Gerhardt Doëseb, whose remains were discovered in a riverbed near the Oanob Bridge in Rehoboth over the weekend.
The suspect, Dickson Karomuine, who had been sought by police since the discovery of Doëseb’s remains, was arrested at a friend’s residence about 15 kilometres north of Rehoboth, after police received information that he was en route to Windhoek.
Members of the Serious Crime Sub-Division in Mariental had been dispatched to Rehoboth to conduct an in-depth investigation into the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death.
The suspect reportedly worked as a taxi driver transporting school learners but had not worked as one for the past three weeks.
The investigation is continuing.
