THE University of Namibia (UNAM) is expected to record its highest number of graduates in a few weeks, with the number of graduates expected to exceed 5,300.

This was announced by UNAM’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kenneth Kamwi Matengu, who revealed that 4,350 students had already graduated in April 2026, of whom 65.5% were female. He said the figure is expected to rise significantly in the coming weeks when the university holds its Spring Graduation.

“It is going to be more than 5,300, and that will give us one of the highest numbers of graduates ever in the history of the institution,” Matengu said.

Matengu also highlighted a general improvement in student progression and completion rates, saying the university has recorded steady growth in the number of graduates each year.

“We are seeing growth in the number of graduates per year. That means we are improving in throughput and progression. We are not having too many people repeating. That’s why the numbers are going up,” Matengu added.
