THE Namibia Airports Company (NAC) has announced that aviation fuel supply at Hosea Kutako International Airport (HKIA) has returned to normal levels.
Dan Kamati, NAC spokesperson, said that its two fuel suppliers, Vivo Energy Namibia (VEN) and PUMA Energy, have confirmed sufficient quantities of Jet A-1 fuel to meet the regular demand of all customers.
This comes after contaminated jet fuel from fuel giant Vivo Energy Namibia led to a shortage of aviation fuel in Namibia, forcing some long-haul flights leaving the country to reroute to Angola from mid-August 2026.
“Following a successful quality check conducted this week, additional fuel has been released to the airport, ensuring that all airlines operating through HKIA are serviced without interruption. No fuel stopovers are required, as fuelling operations at the airport have now fully stabilised. NAC assures all stakeholders that adequate fuel stocks are available to support ongoing aviation activities. We will continue to work closely with fuel suppliers, airlines, regulatory authorities, and industry partners to monitor the situation and safeguard the uninterrupted delivery of safe, efficient, and reliable airport services,” Kamati said.
He extended appreciation to all stakeholders for their cooperation and understanding during this period.
“NAC remains committed to maintaining the resilience and continuity of Namibia’s aviation sector,” Kamati said.
