Okahao and surrounding areas to face water interruptions this week

Staff Reporter

OKAHAO and surrounding areas will be affected by water interruptions this week and next week as the Namibia Water Corporation (NamWater) plans to upgrade the Okahao Pump Station to improve its water supply capacity.

NamWater revealed that the scheduled upgrades will take place today, 2 September 2026, as well as on 4 September 2026, 7 September 2026 and 9 September 2026, between 00h00 and 19h00.

“The scheduled shutdowns are necessary to facilitate the installation of infrastructure associated with the Okahao Pump Station upgrade, aimed at improving water supply capacity and reliability to various areas served by the pump station, particularly ahead of the high-demand summer season,” NamWater explained.

The scheduled water supply interruptions will affect Okahao, Tsandi South, Oshuukwa and all other villages that receive water from the Okahao Pump Station.

“All residents and customers in the affected areas are encouraged to use water sparingly and responsibly during the scheduled interruption periods and to make arrangements to store sufficient water in advance,” NamWater added.
