THE Namibian Police have arrested five suspects accused of livestock theft this weekend after seven donkeys and two sheep were stolen in separate incidents in Nkurenkuru, Gochas and Otjiwarongo.
According to the weekend crime report, two suspects aged 31 and 38 were arrested on Friday in Kaguni Village, Nkurenkuru policing area, Kavango West. They were found in possession of donkey meat.
It is alleged that the suspects stole seven donkeys from the grazing area and slaughtered them. The donkeys are valued at N$8,400 in total. The meat was recovered.
In the Gochas policing area, Hardap Region, police arrested two suspects aged 18 and 20. They allegedly stole a sheep valued at N$2,000 from a kraal and slaughtered it.
Only the skin, head, all four hooves and intestines were recovered.
A third case was reported in Otjiwarongo, Otjozondjupa Region, also on Friday. A 31-year-old suspect was arrested after he allegedly entered a kraal in Orunahi Village, took a male sheep valued at N$1,200 and slaughtered it.
The carcass was recovered.
