THE inauguration of the Ohangwena Time Square Complex by President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah marks a new chapter for the region’s economy, said Ohangwena Regional Governor Kadiva Hamutumwa.

Speaking at the ceremony in Helao Nafidi, Hamutumwa called on investors to seize opportunities in the north, describing the new shopping complex as more than just commercial infrastructure.

“It is a statement of confidence in Helao Nafidi, in Ohangwena and in the future of Namibia,” she said.

The governor said the President’s presence demonstrated the government’s commitment to development, investment, job creation and improved livelihoods.

“Our message is clear: Ohangwena is open for business,” Hamutumwa said. “To investors, entrepreneurs and the private sector: come to Ohangwena. Come and invest, build, create jobs and grow with us.”

She highlighted the Ohangwena Regional Investment Map and Action Plan as the region’s strategic roadmap to unlock its potential. According to her, the plan identifies competitive advantages, priority sectors and investment opportunities to turn potential into sustainable economic growth.

Hamutumwa thanked the Helao Nafidi Town Council, past and present, for their role in the project. She paid special tribute to former Chief Executive Officer Inge Iipinge, saying the development took shape during her tenure.

She also thanked the developer, investors and the business community for their confidence in the border town.

The governor further acknowledged Namibia’s cooperation with the People’s Republic of China, saying the partnership continues to support investment, infrastructure development and economic growth.

“Let us ensure that developments such as this translate into jobs for our youth, opportunities for our businesses, skills for our communities and investment for our region,” she said.

Hamutumwa assured the President that the region is ready for investment.

“The opportunities are here. The time to invest is now. May the Ohangwena Time Square Complex become a catalyst for prosperity in Helao Nafidi, Ohangwena and Namibia,” she said.
