PRESIDENT Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has held separate meetings with the heads of the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO), focusing on Namibia’s health priorities and stronger regional cooperation.
The President received Africa CDC Director-General Dr Jean Kaseya and WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus during courtesy visits at State House today.
Nandi-Ndaitwah welcomed Kaseya to Namibia and expressed appreciation for his decision to host the fifth Southern Africa Regional Ministerial Steering Committee (ReSCO) meeting in the country.

The ReSCO meeting brings together key stakeholders to strengthen regional coordination and cooperation on health-related priorities.
During the meeting, Nandi-Ndaitwah emphasised the importance of African countries working together, supporting one another and building confidence in the continent’s capacity to address its challenges and advance sustainable development.
Kaseya commended Namibia for the progress it has made in the health sector and praised Nandi-Ndaitwah for her leadership and commitment to ensuring that health services are accessible and affordable to Namibians.
The President also welcomed Tedros to Namibia and thanked him for making time to participate in the ReSCO meeting despite his busy schedule.
Nandi-Ndaitwah and Tedros discussed Namibia’s health priorities, regional health cooperation and the importance of continued collaboration between Namibia, the WHO and other partners.
The discussions focused on strengthening health systems and improving the provision and delivery of quality health services to the public.
