KENYA have reclaimed the Rugby Africa U20 Barthés Trophy after defeating defending champions Namibia 33-14 in the Performance Division final in Uganda.
The victory saw the Kenyan U20 side, known as Chipu, lift the continental title for the fourth time after a dominant performance against the Welwitschias.
Kenya took control early, leading Namibia 14-0 at half-time before continuing their pressure after the break.
Chipu made 11 visits to Namibia’s 22-metre area and converted that pressure into five tries, while a 67% goal-kicking success rate helped maintain their advantage.
Namibia, who had entered the final as defending champions, struggled to contain Kenya’s sustained attacking pressure as the East Africans pulled away in the second half.
The 33-14 victory secured Kenya’s return to the top of African U20 rugby and ended Namibia’s reign as Performance Division champions.
