THE 33rd Southern African Regional Climate Outlook Forum (SARCOF-33) will take place in Swakopmund next month.
“Cabinet took note of the request by the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Secretariat for the Republic of Namibia to host the Climate Expert Meeting and the Climate Outlook Forum (SARCOF-33), where Climate Experts from the national meteorological services develop a consensus seasonal climate outlook,” the Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Wenzel Kavaka, announced.
He made this announcement during the recent Cabinet briefing. He added that the climate experts will also provide seasonal climate information to a wide range of stakeholders, including regional and national emergency responders, humanitarian organisations, dam operators, health practitioners, disaster risk management practitioners, electricity producers, decision-makers, farmers and the general public.
He added that the that SARCOF-33 will be preceded by the Climate Expert Meeting, which will be hosted by the Ministry of Works and Transport during the preceding week.
“Cabinet further authorised the Ministry of Works and Transport to host the Climate Expert Meeting from 17 to 24 August 2026, and the Climate Outlook Forum SARCOF-33 from 25 to 28 August 2026 in Swakopmund, Erongo Region,” Kavaka said.
