TEAM Namibia continued its strong showing at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, with swimmer Ronan Wantenaar qualifying for the men’s 50m breaststroke final, Jessica Humphrey delivering a winning heat performance, and boxer Philip Haoseb securing his second victory of the Games.
Wantenaar produced a standout swim in the men’s 50m breaststroke, finishing third in Semi-final 2 with a time of 27.21 seconds to qualify sixth overall for the final.
Earlier, Wantenaar had secured second place in Heat 8 of the event, clocking 27.13 seconds to qualify third overall for the semi-finals.

José Canjulo also represented Namibia in the men’s 50m breaststroke, finishing sixth in his heat with a time of 29.10 seconds after a determined performance.
In the women’s 100m freestyle, Jessica Humphrey continued her impressive campaign by winning her heat after stopping the clock at 58.29 seconds.
In boxing, 55kg fighter Philip Haoseb maintained his winning run in Glasgow after recording a second-round stoppage victory over Yaya of Togo.
Haoseb secured the win by referee stoppage (RSC) after knocking his opponent down three times in a commanding display.
Speaking after the bout, Haoseb said his second fight was better than his opening contest and expressed confidence heading into the next stage of the competition.
“Namibia. One down, another to go,” he said.
Meanwhile, Petrus Jacobus Kotze made his Commonwealth Games debut in the men’s 90kg category against Wales’ Connor Williams.
Kotze was knocked down twice in the opening round and suffered two further knockdowns in the second round before the referee stopped the contest 2 minutes and 11 seconds into the second round.
The bout ended with an RSC result, with Williams recording the victory after four total knockdowns.
Despite the defeat, Team Namibia praised Kotze for stepping up to represent the country on the Commonwealth stage and encouraged him to return stronger in future competitions.
