TEAM Namibia delivered a strong performance at the 15th African Archery Championships in Oran, Algeria, securing seven medals across para and compound archery events.
Namibia’s medal haul included four gold medals, two silver medals and one bronze medal, with athletes excelling in both individual and team competitions.
Saimi Shilunga claimed gold in the Para Compound Women category, while Jacqueline Coetzee and Jannie Meuwesen also secured gold medals in the Compound Women and Compound Men categories respectively.
Meuwesen partnered with Elisabeth Taljaard to win gold in the Compound Mixed Team event, adding another continental title to Namibia’s achievements.
Taljaard also earned a silver medal in the Compound Women category, while De-Villiers Visser took silver in the Para Compound Men event.
Alvin Iita completed Namibia’s medal tally with a bronze medal in the Para Compound Men category.
The Namibia team’s performance was praised as a reflection of the athletes’ dedication, determination and preparation, with congratulations extended to the athletes, coaches and officials for raising the country’s flag on the continental stage.
