The Namibia Airports Company (NAC) has introduced a modern Flight Information Display System (FIDS) at Walvis Bay International Airport as part of ongoing efforts to enhance passenger services through digital technology.
The N$1.3 million system provides passengers with real-time flight updates through strategically placed digital screens across the terminal, including check-in areas, departure lounges, waiting areas and other key passenger service points.
The new technology is designed to provide accurate and timely information on arrivals, departures, boarding times, gate allocations and operational changes, allowing passengers to navigate the airport with greater ease and confidence.
The system includes advanced FIDS software, professional display screens, operator workstations and a dedicated server environment to support reliable and efficient information management.
NAC said the upgrade will also improve communication between airlines and passengers while strengthening coordination among airport operations teams.
The implementation forms part of NAC’s broader digital transformation efforts and its commitment to improving service delivery and creating modern airport experiences that meet evolving passenger expectations.
