THE Namibian Navy has introduced thousands of learners to career opportunities within the maritime defence force during the Erongo Annual Career Fair, highlighting recruitment pathways, training programmes and the role of the Navy in protecting Namibia’s territorial waters and national security.
The career fair, hosted by the Erongo Regional Council in collaboration with the Directorate of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sport, Arts and Culture and municipalities in the region, took place in Walvis Bay and Swakopmund from 13 to 17 July 2026.
Approximately 3 000 learners from schools across the Erongo Region attended the event, which provided them with an opportunity to explore different career options and interact with representatives from various institutions and organisations.

During the event, Namibian Navy personnel engaged with learners on opportunities available within the maritime defence force, sharing information on recruitment requirements, training programmes, educational opportunities and career development.
The Navy said its participation formed part of efforts to encourage young Namibians to consider careers in the defence sector while promoting values such as patriotism, discipline and service to the nation.
The career fair also served as a platform for learners to receive guidance, ask questions and gain information to assist them in making informed decisions about their future careers.
The Erongo Annual Career Fair continues to connect learners with institutions of higher learning, government ministries and employers, providing access to information and resources to support career planning.
