A 44-YEAR-OLD police officer attached to the VIP Unit in Outapi has been arrested after allegedly driving recklessly and hitting a pedestrian.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening on the Outapi-Tsandi main road, next to Outapi District Hospital.
The 66-year-old female victim, a resident of Ohauhwe village, sustained minor facial injuries.
According to the police, the suspect was driving a white Ford pick-up, registration N 780516 W, on a public road in a reckless and negligent manner when he struck a pedestrian who was crossing the road.
He is also accused of driving without a valid driver’s licence and of refusing to undergo a breathalyser test when requested by traffic officers.
