HYPHEN Hydrogen Energy (Hyphen) has successfully facilitated and concluded a high-level strategic engagement between Her Excellency Dr Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, President of the Republic of Namibia, and her high-ranking ministerial delegation.
The engagement in Chengdu, China, was held with China National Chemical Engineering Corporation 7 (CC7), a key subsidiary of the state-owned China National Chemical Engineering Corporation (CNCEC).
The landmark meeting represents a critical milestone in developing international cooperation between Hyphen and its key implementation partner, CC7, as Hyphen seeks to play its part in accelerating Namibia’s transition into a global green energy powerhouse.
Led by Hyphen CEO Marco Raffinetti, the Hyphen executive team formally introduced Her Excellency and her delegation to CC7’s senior leadership, led by Chairman Long Haiyang. Discussions focused on introducing CC7, explaining its role in the project and identifying areas for further collaboration.
“It was an exceptionally productive meeting, and we are deeply honoured that Her Excellency, the President of Namibia, travelled to China and chose to engage directly with our organisation. This visit fills us with immense pride and underscores the profound strategic importance both of our nations place on the green transition and the flagship Hyphen project,” CC7 Chairman Long Haiyang stated after the high-level meeting.
In 2025, Hyphen awarded CC7 the major Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) and Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contracts for the chemical ammonia production facility.
The Namibian Government, which holds a 24% equity stake in Hyphen as Namibia’s flagship project, has placed green hydrogen at the centre of its national economic and decarbonisation strategy. Reinforcing this active state backing, President Nandi-Ndaitwah explicitly encouraged Namibian enterprises to leverage international partnerships of this calibre.
Marco Raffinetti, CEO of Hyphen Hydrogen Energy, commented that CC7 brings world-class technical expertise and a proven delivery track record in large-scale chemical and infrastructure projects.
“We were very pleased to facilitate this direct introduction to Her Excellency and her ministers, underscoring the strong Sino-Namibian partnership driving this transformative project forward,” Raffinetti said.
Giuseppe Surace, Chief Operating Officer of Hyphen, added that CC7 and its parent company, CNCEC, are among the world’s leading large-scale engineering and construction groups, with deep capabilities and a proven track record of successful project implementation both in China and internationally.
“It is for this reason that Hyphen and CC7 are discussing extending CC7’s scope in the delivery of the project,” Surace said.
