THE Naval Training School (NTS) recently completed its Marines Formation Course following a five-day field training exercise.

The ceremony, which marked the beginning of the graduates’ service as members of the Namibian Navy Marine Corps, was addressed by the NTS’s Commandant, Navy Captain Fanuel Iiyambo, who urged the new Marines to uphold the highest standards of military service.

He commended the trainees for their resilience, discipline and teamwork under challenging conditions and equally praised the instructors for their dedication in shaping the trainees into capable professional marines.

The highlight of the event was the awarding of Namibian Marine Tags, symbolising courage, professionalism and readiness to defend the nation.

The NTS is the Namibian Navy’s main training institution, established in 2009 and commissioned by late President Hage Geingob on 22 July 2016.

It is situated at the Wilbard Tashiya Nakada Military Base in Walvis Bay.

The school received assistance from the resident Brazilian Military Advisory and Training Team.
