THE Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) and Angola’s University of Namibe (UNINBE) have entered into a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening collaboration in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields through joint research, capacity building and academic exchange.
The two institutions formalised the partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which will focus on areas including marine biology, fisheries and aquaculture, agriculture, green hydrogen, the green economy and mining.
The agreement is intended to support joint research programmes, staff and student mobility, innovative academic initiatives and the development of solutions that address challenges in both countries.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, NUST Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Andrew Niikondo said the MoU should become an active partnership driven by continued engagement, research collaboration and tangible outcomes.
“Let this Memorandum become a living partnership characterised by active collaboration, regular engagement, successful research projects, staff and student mobility, innovative academic programmes, and tangible solutions that benefit both our institutions and society at large,” Niikondo said.
University of Namibe Rector Professor Alfredo Noré Saluanja Muacahila said the signing of the agreement marked the beginning of practical cooperation between the two institutions.
He said the universities would jointly develop a research and innovation action plan to identify thematic priorities, establish collaborative teams, share infrastructure, set funding targets and define measurable outcomes.
The partnership is expected to contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge and innovation while strengthening academic ties between Namibia and Angola.
