FIREFIGHTERS and local community members are battling a rapidly spreading wildfire at Linyanti in the Zambezi Region, with additional resources and manpower being mobilised to help contain the blaze.
The Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism said its staff have been fighting the fire since yesterday, with operations continuing until late last night.
The firefighting efforts have been supported by members of the local community, while officials are regrouping and reassessing their strategy to continue containment efforts.

The ministry warned that the fire is spreading quickly due to strong winds and heavy fuel loads in the area, creating an urgent need for additional support from regional stakeholders.
No losses of livestock, wildlife or human lives have been reported so far.
The cause of the fire remains unknown.
Community members have been urged to continue cooperating with officials on the ground and to follow all instructions issued during the firefighting operation.
