A SUSPECT has been arrested after an unknown number of thieves stole three Grundfos water pumps valued at an estimated N$140,000 from two neighbouring farms at Ongongoro, near Coblenz in the Otjozondjupa Region, on Friday.
The incident occurred at an unknown time at Ongongoro Poultry Farm and Ongongoro Farm, which share a boundary.
According to the police, the suspects gained entry to Ongongoro Poultry Farm by breaking the padlock on a fence with an unknown object. They stole one Grundfos pump before moving to the adjacent Ongongoro Farm. Using the same method, they cut the padlock and stole two more Grundfos pumps.
The stolen equipment is used for water distribution and irrigation on farms in the area. The total value of the three pumps is estimated at N$140,000.
Only one of the suspected thieves — a 35-year-old Namibian male — has been detained so far in connection with the theft.
