TWO minors have been reported to have taken their own lives over the past weekend, including a nine-year-old boy who was discovered hanging at his home.
According to the weekend crime bulletin, an incident of suicide was reported on Friday, 19 June 2026, at around 18:00 in Oshoogolo village, Etayi Constituency, Omusati Region. It is alleged that Ndeutila Hashondili Ikela, a nine-year-old boy, committed suicide after his lifeless body was found hanging from a mopane tree in front of their house with a rope around his neck. The body was discovered by his housemate, who was looking for him. Next of kin were informed. The deceased’s body is currently being kept at Etayi police mortuary, awaiting transportation to Okahao for a post-mortem to be conducted. No suicide note was left.
In another incident, a 16-year-old girl is said to have also committed suicide in the same Oshoogolo village in Etayi.
The suicide by hanging was discovered on Friday, 19 June 2026, at approximately 15:30. It is alleged that Niilonga Tangeni Renate, a 16-year-old female, committed suicide after her lifeless body was discovered hanging with a piece of cloth in her sleeping room. Next of kin were informed. The deceased’s body will be transported to Okahao for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death. Police investigations are ongoing.
